Aegis Sciences Corporation Launches  SARS-CoV-2 and Influenza A/B CoV-2 and Influenza Virus A/B Combo Test for Suspected Respiratory Viral Infection Compatible with COVID-19.

Containing the spread of respiratory diseases like influenza is more important than ever this fall and winter due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because the symptoms of a respiratory viral infection caused by SARS-CoV-2 and influenza can be similar, the multiplex test is used as a single test to diagnose an infection caused by any of the three viruses. Testing  all three viruses simultaneously will allow for more efficient testing and diagnosis, which will help reduce the spread of these viruses in the community and improve patient care.

The  COVID-19 + FLU A/B Combo Test is a molecular reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)  test  for the simultaneous qualitative detection and differentiation of SARS-CoV-2, influenza A virus and/ or Influenza B respiratory samples are collected from the nasopharynx, oropharynx, middle turbinate, or anterior nostrils of individuals suspected of having a respiratory viral infection consistent with COVID-19.
