SILVER STRAND BLEACH

Silver Strand Beach, named for the silver screen, is Oxnard’s southernmost beach. It is surrounded by colorful homes and a vibrant neighborhood.

Silver Strand Beach is a popular spot in Oxnard. The Silver Strand neighborhood has only one exit/entrance down Victoria Avenue. This mile-long beach is quite isolated. It’s bordered by Port Hueneme Naval Base and the inlet of Channel Islands Harbor to its north. The beach is relatively uncrowded, despite being a little more than 7 miles from Highway 101.

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Silver Strand Beach is a great place to surf, fish, kayak, walk along white sandy beaches and enjoy a cool, moderate climate. It’s also a friendly beach. Silver Strand Beach is loved by Oxnard residents and tourists who are beach-savvy. Nearby restaurants, hotels, as well as local attractions at Channel Islands Harbor, can be found in the Silver Strand area.

Surfing Silver Strand Beach

Silver Strand Beach is the preferred destination for local body and boogieboarders. The Jetty is the highest point on this Beach Break. This is an amazing break for intermediate and longboarders. It is a beautiful right-hand break. The Bowl, which is perfect in the Fall and Winter, as well La Janelle, a left-hand sandbar break that will have all your silly footers laughing. Be sure to learn good surfing etiquette, regardless of the break you choose.

Silver Strand Murals and La Jenelle Park

You’ll find stunning murals on the walls of Port Hueneme Naval Base. They were painted by local artists such as Evan Mendel, Jess Mavros and Gina Lu Sloatman. Follow the signs to the point and climb up the jetty to see the remains of the luxury ocean liner La Jenelle.

Kayaking

Because of its close proximity to the Channel Islands Harbor, kayaking Silver Strand Beach is a popular watersport. You can either paddle down the beach towards La Janelle Jetty or in and around Channel Islands Harbor. Here, you can see dolphins, sea lions, harbor seals and other marine life.

Fishing

Silver Strand Beach is an excellent spot to catch surf perch and calico bass. Sand Crabs and plastic grubs can be used to catch corbina and surf perch on the shore. To catch Calico Bass, halibut and other fish, you can try the Jetty. Spring and summer are the best times to surf fish. Silver Strand Beach is a great place to find Pismo Clams. Channel Islands Sport Fishing Center is approximately a mile away from Silver Strand Beach. You can also pick up a fishing licence and tackle.

AMENITIES

The beach is north of public restrooms. From sunrise to sunset, parking is free. There is a parking lot adjacent to San Nicholas Road. There is street parking available. Only between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day are lifeguards on duty.

Beach Access: Beach wheelchairs can be rented to allow you to access sandy areas. Beach wheelchairs can be checked out at the Silver Strand Parking Lot’s main lifeguard tower between Memorial Day and Labor Day. You can also check out beach wheelchairs at Harbor Patrol, 3900 Pelican Way Oxnard, CA 93035, during the rest of year.

Dogs on the beach: Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. Dog owners are required to bring their own waste bags.

Open Flames: County beaches prohibit open flames. This includes portable fire pits or portable grills.
